PebblePad Workshops
We are currently offering the following workshops:
- Effective use of Profiles
- Effective use of Proformas
- Creating and Managing Gateways
- Advanced Features
Following on from the recent user group meetings it was clear that there was demand for more advanced workshops. To this end we are offering the following workshops, limited to 8 people per workshop, at Pebble HQ.
Workshop 2 - Effective use of Profiles
1000 - 1300, Tuesday 16 September 2008
£75.00 including refreshments, lunch and VAT
Profile Builder is the authoring tool that allows you to build and manage Profiles in PebblePad. Profiles allow users to respond to questions and ability statements with scales ranging from 1-2 thro' 1-9 and with short text and long-text answers. Questions and ability statements can also be evidenced or action plans linked towards their development. Traffic-light icons show progress, responses can be changed over time with a response history stored, comments can be added at each level and items can be 'verified'. Profiles can also be used to support self- and peer-assessment.
This workshop will provide delegates with a thorough overview of the Profile Builder; they will then be able to create a Profile for their own curriculum area/interest and publish it for evaluation by other delegates. Delegates will leave the workshop with sufficient knowledge and skills to create and publish Profiles on their own PebblePad installation.
This workshop is best suited to people who will have admin permissions to build profiles for their students use in PebblePad; particularly those supporting students collecting evidence against subject or professional ‘competency’ frameworks.
Workshop 3 - Effective use of Proformas
1400 - 1700, Tuesday 16 September 2008
£75.00 including refreshments, lunch and VAT
Form Builder is the Proforma authoring tool that allows users to replicate paper-based forms in a web environment for saving, sharing and reuse in PebblePad. Proformas can be created with different sized text fields; with multiple-choice entries and with multi-column tables. Evidence can be added to questions in proformas and they can be saved and used like all standard PebblePad assets.
This workshop will provide delegates with a thorough overview of Form Builder; they will then be able to create Proformas for their own curriculum area/interest and publish them for evaluation by other delegates. Delegates will leave the workshop with sufficient knowledge and skills to create and publish Proformas on their own PebblePad installation.
This workshop is best suited to people who will have admin permissions to build electronic forms for their students use in PebblePad.
Creating and Managing Gateways
Workshop 4 - Creating and Managing Gateways
1000 - 1300, Wednesday 17 September 2008
£75.00 including refreshments, lunch and VAT
Gateways are widely used where large numbers of users submit work for assessment, accreditation or review. As gateways provide tools to lock work; provide access to moderators; provide and release feedback and store grades, gateways can be used as an online submission system.
This workshop will provide delegates with a thorough overview of gateways; they will then be able to create gateways and explore their full functionality. Delegates will leave the workshop with sufficient knowledge and skills to create and manage gateways on their own PebblePad installation.
This workshop is best suited to people who will be using PebblePad with large groups of students – particularly for assessment.
PebblePad: Getting Sophisticated
Workshop 5 - Advanced Features
1400 - 1700, Wednesday 17 September 2008
£75.00 including refreshments, lunch and VAT
PebblePad contains a number of great ‘advanced’ features such as linking to Flickr and YouTube; adding RSS as content; adding a wide-range of special pages to WebFolios; tagging and mobile use.
This workshop will explore these and other tools & features and will provide delegates with an opportunity to discuss how they might be used in their own curriculum or professional area by learners or teachers.
This workshop is best suited to people who understand the basic tools and concepts behind PebblePad and who want to use it in a more ‘sophisticated’ way.
