pebblePAD - PACE

The PACE project at the University of Wolverhampton has been developed to provide opportunities for students to plan for their own self-development. In particular PACE is concerned with students' Personal, Academic, Career and Employability capabilities. The PebblePAD ePortfolio system was originally developed to support PACE but quickly grew to encompass learning, teaching and assessment functions as well as supporting CPD for staff.

Four academic schools were involved in the initial pilots at Wolverhampton using PebblePAD primarily for curriculum embedded PDP. A wide range of subject disciplines were represented and included both undergraduate and post-graduate learning. Feedback from both staff and students involved in the pilot was overwhelmingly positive which resulted in the university adopting the system for all staff and students from September 2005. The decision to make PebblePAD an institution-wide system was taken exactly 14 months to the day from when the first line of code was written.

Megan Lawton is the Student Support Coordinator at the University of Wolverhampton. Megan works within the Centre for Learning and Teaching, now a CETL, which is headed by Dr Alison Halstead, the Dean for Learning and Teaching. Both Megan and Alison have been unremitting in their support for the use of the PebblePAD system to support the PACE process.
